Privacy policy
We collect very little. There are no accounts, and your pet's measurements never leave your browser. Here is everything that does happen.

The short version
- No accounts, no logins, no newsletter and no comments.
- The Fit Finder saves your pet's measurements in your own browser. They never reach us.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits. It sets cookies.
- When you click a buy button, Amazon sets its own cookies to credit the sale to us.
- We don't sell personal information.
Who we are
Good Floof runs the website at goodfloof.com. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Good Floof. We run the site from British Columbia, Canada.
We follow Canada's privacy laws. These are British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. If you live in the UK or the EU, privacy law there calls us the "controller" of your data. That means we decide what data we collect and how we use it.

Your pet’s measurements
The Fit Finder asks for your pet's chest, neck, back or body length and weight. You can type in as many or as few as you like.
It saves what you type in your browser's local storage, under the name gf-measure-v1. It also saves whether you picked a dog or a cat, and inches or centimeters. That lets each guide show your pet's size next to the picks.
All the size matching happens on your own phone or computer. Your measurements are never sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see them.
To remove them, clear this site's data in your browser settings. A private or incognito window won't keep them after you close it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits. It only runs on goodfloof.com itself, not on preview copies of the site.
Google Analytics records the pages you view and how you reached them. It also records your device, your browser and a rough location, down to about the city. It uses cookies to tell a new visit from a return one. Google says it works out your rough location from your IP address, and then drops the IP address.
We use these reports to see which pages help people and which need work. We don't use them to identify you. We don't link them to anything else about you, and we don't use them for advertising.
Google handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and browser storage
Good Floof doesn't set any cookies of its own. Three things can still store data in your browser:
- Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits, as described above.
- The Fit Finder saves your measurements in local storage. This works like a cookie, but your browser never sends it to us.
- Our host, Cloudflare, may set a cookie to block attacks and bad traffic.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser. The site still works if you do. The Fit Finder won't keep your pet's size saved after you leave.
Site search
Site search runs in your browser. Your search words appear in the page address, so our host and Google Analytics can see them.
Affiliate links
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Our buy buttons take you to Amazon.com.
Once you reach Amazon, Amazon sets its own cookies so it can credit a purchase to us. Amazon's own privacy notice covers those cookies. It also covers what you do on Amazon. Amazon's reports show us which products sold, but not who bought them.
Hosting
Cloudflare hosts Good Floof and delivers its pages. To do that, Cloudflare handles basic details about each visit. These include your IP address, the page you asked for, the time and your browser type. Cloudflare uses them to send you the page and to block attacks.
Our fonts come from our own site, not from an outside font service.
If you email us
If you write to [email protected], we get your email address and whatever you wrote. We use it to reply to you.
We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't send marketing emails.
Please don't send us your pet's medical records or your own private details. We can't give vet advice, so we'd rather not hold them.
Who else sees data
We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising. These companies handle data to run the site, each under its own privacy policy:
- Cloudflare hosts the site.
- Google runs Google Analytics.
- Amazon handles anything you do after you click through to it.
- Our email provider holds messages you send us.
We may also share data if the law makes us, such as for a valid court order.
Where data goes
We run the site from Canada. Google and Cloudflare are based in the United States, and they run servers around the world. So data about your visit may leave your country. It may go to the United States or Canada.
The laws there may differ from the laws where you live. Officials in those countries may be able to reach the data under their own laws.
For data from the UK and the EU, Google and Cloudflare say they use approved legal safeguards. Standard contract terms are one example.
Our legal reasons (UK and EU)
The UK and EU privacy law, the GDPR, asks us to name a legal reason for each use of your data. Here are ours:
- Google Analytics: our interest in seeing which pages help readers. You can block it, as described below.
- Hosting and security: our interest in running a safe site that works.
- Emails you send us: our interest in answering you.
How long data lasts
Google Analytics keeps visit records for up to 14 months.
Cloudflare keeps its visit records for its own set times, under its own policy.
We keep emails you send us, along with our replies, as a record of what was said.
Fit Finder measurements stay in your browser until you clear them. We never hold them.
Your choices and rights
You can use the whole site with cookies blocked. You can also use a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from running.
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it or delete it. Email [email protected]. We'll reply within the time the law allows. Unless you've emailed us, we almost certainly hold nothing that names you.
In the UK and the EU, the GDPR gives you more rights. You can object to how we use your data, or ask us to limit it. You can also ask for a copy to take elsewhere.
Some US states have their own privacy laws. Many of them only cover larger businesses, so they may not apply to us.
If you think we've mishandled your data, please email us first. You can also complain to a privacy regulator. In British Columbia, that's the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. For Canada as a whole, it's the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. In the UK or the EU, you can contact your local data protection authority.
Children
We write Good Floof for adults. It isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here and change the date at the top.
