About Good Floof

Good Floof is a small, independent site about gear for dogs, cats and small pets. We cover the things that have to fit a body or a space. That means harnesses, collars, coats, crates, carriers, beds and litter boxes.

We write three kinds of article:

• Buying guides. We look at the popular options for one problem and pick three. Our top pick for most pets gets the Best in Show award, like the top dog at a dog show. The other two each get an award that names the pet they suit, like "Best for puppies", or a price award, like "Best value".
• Reviews. One product at a time. Each one says who it suits and who should skip it.
• Care guides. Help with the jobs around the gear, like measuring a dog or switching litter. Each one opens with the answer, then lists the steps.

A Medium in one brand can be a Small in the next. So we built the Fit Finder.

You measure your pet once with a soft tape. The Fit Finder checks those numbers against each product's own size chart. Then every guide shows your pet's size next to each pick.

We copy each chart from the brand's size guide or the product's store listing. We write down the page we took it from and the date we checked it. If your pet falls between two sizes, the Fit Finder tells you so. It won't guess.

Your measurements stay in your own browser. They never reach us. The privacy policy explains how that works.

We don't run a test kennel, and we don't put products on our own pets. Here is where our information comes from.

• We read each product's size chart, product details and fitting instructions, from the brand or the store listing.
• For health and safety, we follow vets and animal welfare groups, such as the AVMA and the ASPCA. We link their advice at the point we use it.

So we will never tell you a harness felt soft on a walk. We tell you what the brand and the size chart say. Then we tell you which pet we think it suits. How we judge has the full method.

Two bylines appear on Good Floof. Both are pen names. Each name covers its own set of topics and has its own writing style. They are not vets or trainers.

Our picks are the site's, so they say "we". Neither writer ever claims to have tried a product.

Commissions don't affect which products we pick. We pick the three products first, and we add the links after. Brands can't pay us to pick their products. The affiliate disclosure has the details.

Brands change their products and redraw their size charts. Sometimes they do it without telling anyone. If you spot a size, a spec or a claim here that looks wrong, please tell us.
